Dr. Floh
The second module in my study program was to shoot a documentary portrait of a person on the subject of “Durch die Hintertüre” in English: Through the back door. It was clear to me that I wanted to find a strong personality who helps people enormously but in a very subtle way. And so I came across Dr. Floh, who warmly welcomed and told me everything about her interesting life being a hospital clown. We had many hours of getting-to-know each other and finally shot the video in two days.
Since there were still strict regulations in the hospitals in 2021,
my plans were complicated by continuous strict regulations on hospitals. Fortunately this allowed me to discover a narrative form between staging and documentation for myself. Having to interview both, Liz and Dr. Floh gave the video its unique style.
Logline: Liz Monteleone leads a double life. When she enters patients rooms, she slips into the role of Dr. Floh and brings smiles to children's faces. However, she can't show them her fear of knocking on any door. Thanks to Dr. Floh, Liz can give her carefree side the space she holds back as an adult living in a very serious world.
